Multilingual Learners
Leonia Public Schools
English as a Second Language Program
Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed to meet the needs of English Language Learners (ELLs), now called Multilingual Learners (MLs), by creating excellence in academics through equity, and rigor. Our program is structured through research-based strategies, best practices, and a laser-light focus on instruction that meets the needs of all learners. We pride ourselves in enhancing instruction that improves language acquisition in the four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We also take pride in celebrating the diverse cultures attending Leonia Public Schools, strengthening our local community through parental involvement and outreach.
