Welcome to the Leonia Public School District!
 
Student Registration & Enrollment Procedures
 
Please be advised that you must make an appointment in order to register your child. Once you schedule an appointment, please bring the completed documents listed below to the Leonia Board of Education Office located at 570 Grand Avenue (the little grey house with a sign on the front lawn).
 
Board of Education Registration hours:
Monday – Friday
9:00 am – 2:30 pm

In order to register, you must bring the following documents with you:   
  1. Proof of Residency
  2. Registration Forms

Please complete the Home Language Survey for each child you wish to register.
 
For your convenience, here is a Residency Checklist.
 
Proof of Residency must be established before your child may enter as a student in the district.
The following documentation is required at the time of registration:
    • Proof of Residency: a current lease or deed or tax card
    • A current Utility Bill
    • Child’s Birth Certificate or Passport
    • Student Transfer Card from the student’s previous district
    • Transcript if student will be attending Leonia High School
 
Registration Forms will enable us to determine your child’s eligibility to attend school in the Leonia School District, in accordance with New Jersey law, and process your registration efficiently and quickly.

  • What if I am unable to locate the paperwork required to register my child?
Please call the Board of Education to discuss acceptable alternatives: 201-302-5228. 
 
  • What is the eligibility cut-off date for registering a child for Pre K 4 and Kindergarten?
For Pre K 4, a child must be 4 years of age on or by October 1st of the upcoming school year.
Kindergarten a child must be 5 years of age on or by October 1st of the upcoming school year.
 
  • Do I need to schedule an appointment to change my address?
Yes, appointments are required to complete a change of address.

  • Do I need a current physical for my child?
Yes. A current physical must be submitted showing (within one year (365 days) prior to entry date).  The physical must be performed by a doctor or nurse practitioner licensed in the United States and have a signature and Seal from the doctor’s office. Please click here for a physical form.
