SMILE Credit Recovery
Credit Recovery is for high school students who have failed a course required for graduation and would like to remain on track for graduation and/or to avoid repeating a full-year course the next school year.
High School Credit Recovery Courses
Algebra I: For students who have lost credit in any level of Algebra 1
Geometry: For students who have lost credit in any level of Geometry
Algebra II: For students who have lost credit in any level of Algebra 2
Lost credit is defined as a grade lower than a 65 in their full-year math course, or received a NC due to attendance.
High School Credit Recovery Information
Program duration: All Credit Recovery courses are 20 school days.
School hours: 8:00 am-11:00 am
Grade requirement: Students must earn a minimum passing grade of 65 to receive recovery credit.
Busing service: Busing is provided by the Edgewater School District and is available for Edgewater residents only.
Attendance & Tardy Policy
Attendance: Students will be allowed one absence or a total of 30 accumulated minutes of tardiness for the duration of the program. Tardiness is considered to be arriving late to school in the morning or returning late from lunch. Accumulated minutes over 30 minutes result in one absence. If a student is absent, the teacher must be notified by a parent prior to 8:15 a.m. on the day of absence. If the school receives no email, the parent will be contacted via phone or email to confirm the absence. Students who leave the school day early will be counted as an absence regardless of what time they leave. The student must be in attendance the whole day to count as present.
Student Cost for Fundamental & Credit Recovery courses
Tuition rate 2026: $450 per session*
*Financial assistance is available. Families must be classified by their home resident district for receiving free or reduced meals. Documentation may be requested.
A non-refundable registration $50 fee per student is included in the price.
Multi-student discount available for Leonia and Edgewater residents.
Families registering more than one student are eligible for a discount:
2 Students: 10% discount will be applied to the total SMILE cost.
3 Students: 15% discount will be applied to the total SMILE cost.
