Promote health and wellness by providing enhanced opportunities for students and staff,
including food, physical activity, and mental health initiatives,
to support student learning, attendance, and overall well-being.

 

 

 

Objectives & Plans

Objectives:

  1. Improve districtwide SEL programs to create coherence across the district.
  2. Use data-driven insights to make real-time adjustments and enhancements.

 

Steps to Complete:

2025-2026:

  • Evaluate and measure Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program effectiveness across all schools. (Obj. 1)
  • Identify any potential SEL gaps between schools/grades/departments, and develop a plan to bridge identified gaps. (Obj. 1)

2026-2027:

  • Develop a district-wide SEL implementation plan integrating mindfulness, resilience training, and restorative practices. (Obj. 1)
  • Embed mental health support structure into MTSS as tiered intervention. (Obj. 1)

2027-2028:

  • Establish clear implementation guidelines and train staff to ensure consistency. (Obj. 1)
  • Provide continuous professional development to ensure staff is equipped to sustain and refine the plan. (Obj. 1)

2028-2029:

  • Create a monitoring system to track progress and identify areas for improvement. (Obj. 2)
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with students, educators, and parents to assess program effectiveness. (Obj. 2)

2029-2030:

  • Communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders to maintain transparency and accountability. (Obj. 2)

Objectives:

  1. Improve and modernize school schedules to support and strengthen staff in their teaching practices.
  2. Incorporate built-in FLEX time for intervention and enrichment periods to provide targeted academic support and extension opportunities.

 

Steps to Complete:

2025-2026:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of current school schedules to identify strengths and areas for improvement in staff efficiency and student support. (Completed in 2024-2025) (Obj. 1)
  • Research evidence-based schedules ideal for students at different developmental levels and learning needs. (Completed in 2024-2025) (Obj. 1)
  • Explore alternative scheduling models, such as block scheduling, staggered start times, and flexible learning periods, to enhance instructional effectiveness. (Completed in 2024-2025) (Obj. 1)
  • Draft initial recommendations and share with staff, students, and families for input. (Obj. 1)
  • Develop and share a modernized school schedule that incorporates stakeholder feedback. (Obj. 1)
  • Establish perimeters around FLEX instruction and expectations. (Obj. 2)

2026-2027:

  • Implement the new schedule and FLEX period across schools. (Obj. 2)
  • Provide training and support for staff to adjust instruction and student supports within the new model. (Obj. 1, 2)

2027-2028:

  • Gather feedback and support staff in continuing/expanding implementation. (Obj. 1, 2)

2028 and beyond:

  • Adjust and expand practices as needed to further strengthen student support and instructional effectiveness. (Obj. 1, 2)

  • Construct and furnish wellness spaces with mental health resources and sensory tools. (Obj. 1)

2028 and Beyond:

  • Evaluate and refine wellness center operations annually. (Obj. 1)

  • Explore hands-on learning experiences such as cooking demonstrations, gardening programs, and farm-to-school initiatives. (Obj. 2)

2026-2027:

  • Align nutrition and fitness education with broader wellness policies to create a holistic approach to student health. (Obj. 2)
  • Establish student wellness advisory groups, one per building. (Obj. 1)
  • Meet biannually with advisory groups to gather feedback from students on their needs. (Obj. 1)
  • Using feedback from advisory groups, develop actionable items that will be presented to the district administration for implementation. (Obj. 1)

2027-2028:

  • Implement items, upon approval of the district administration. (Obj. 1)
  • Implement fitness challenges and movement-based learning activities across all grade levels. (Obj. 2)
